The holidays are back, and by the looks of it, they're going to be some of the best and brightest yet! Here in South Louisiana, Christmas events and New Year concerts are beginning to show up on our calendars once more. If you're looking for a new place to bring the kids for the holidays or just an event to raise some Christmas cheer, we have a list in store for you!

Below is a list of four unique events found around the Southern Louisiana area.

South Louisiana's All-Time Favorite Christmas Events

Experience the holidays in a brand new way by attending some of these outstanding holiday events!

An Acadiana Christmas Carol

The Cite' des Arts in Lafayette, LA, is known for putting on a good show, and with their recent adaptation of 'A Christmas Carol,' it's sure to be a good time for the whole family! The show follows Ms. Etta Scrooge as she navigates her past, present, and future holiday decisions. At only two hours long, this play is perfect for even the littlest family members.

A list of showings will last from December 3 to December 18, with a final matinée on December 19 at 2 PM. Choose your timeslot and pick up your tickets at the Town planner event calendar!

The Lockport Christmas Parade

Who doesn't love thousands of twinkling lights, beautiful displays, and festive music to put you in the Christmas spirit? The Lockport Christmas Parade is back in business, and it promises to be a downright magical one. If you have little ones in tow, consider following good ol' Papa Noel back to the Lockport Community Center for a picture, tasty vittles, a hot chocolate bar, and a festive holiday movie.

Located in downtown Historic Lockport, this is an event you won't want to miss. The Parade starts on December 18 at 2 PM, with Santa arriving at the Community Center around 6 PM. Check out a map of the parade on the Lafourche Parish website.

The Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan

Santa Claus is coming to town -- Coca Cola style!

Rouses Market is hosting the Big Man himself on Wednesday, December 15, for the entire day. And it won't be hard to spot him: Santa will be riding into town on an 18 wheel semi-truck decked from nose to tail in more than 25,000-holiday lights. Children will be able to meet and greet Santa all on their own and get a family picture to take back home. It's the perfect ending to a perfect meeting.

The Eve Of The Eve Event

It's the most wonderful time of the year, and at the Grand Opera House of the South in Crowley, LA, there's no better time to enjoy it! This year's theme is 'Don't Stop Believin',' with a host of 80s decor, a cash bar, and plenty of delicious food to try. Don't forget the silent auction to support a good cause!

The event will last from 7:30 – 11:00 on New Year's Eve (December 30), and folks are expecting tickets to sell out fast. Get yours as soon as possible by visiting the Grand Opera House's Facebook page.
