Here at Louisiana Custom Closets, we take pride in the work and services we provide to our clients across southern Louisiana.  Our specialties involve creating order and organization, which is invaluable in any home or business setting. We also add an element of style and beauty to every room we work in.  We use local materials when possible in order to keep our home economy here in Louisiana strong, and we deliver the highest quality craftsmanship to each of our clients.

After all the hard work we put into these masterpieces, we know our clients appreciate and respect their beauty as well as their function.  But after all, they are closets, and it is not always easy to keep a closet in order, so we want to offer a few suggestions for maximizing a closet’s true potential.

Here are four great tips for closet manageability:

  • The Blank Slate Approach:  This is a more drastic, yet ultimately more effective approach to organizing closet space. It involves removing everything from the space, and then sorting and placing everything back in a more organized manner. Once all the garments are removed from the closet, they will need to be sorted into piles for keeping, repairing, throwing away and donating.  Once the sorting is done, replace each garment in its appropriate spot. This method can be highly satisfying once complete!
  • Seasonal Rotation:  Another way to keep a closet organized is by hanging items that are only needed for a particular season of the year. It makes sense not to clutter space with long johns and winter attire here in Louisiana. Place the unnecessary clothing into storage or place them   on high shelves or beneath hanging items, this will make the closet seem much roomier, and make getting dressed a whole lot easier!
  • Organization with Purpose:  When sorting clothing on shelves and hangers, consider each item’s purpose and store according to use. Knowing where each specific item is will help speed up getting ready every day by making closet navigation simple.
  • Useful Additions:  Remember there are a few elements that can be added to a closet to help with organization.  For example, hampers keep dry cleaning and dirty laundry out of the way and off the floor. Storage baskets for bulkier items like socks and workout clothes can be very convenient; even the addition of a central island for folding or extra storage can maximize your closet’s true potential.

We hope these tips for keeping a closet clean and organized are helpful as you use and maintain your Louisiana Custom Closet!  Check out our online gallery for some examples of what we can do for any additional space, and don’t be afraid to contact us for more information about our products and services.
